Teacher Enhancement In Special Education

Teacher Enhancement In Special Education

In cooperation with the Department of Education-NCR, LINK Center has fore fronted seminar-workshops to enhance teaching skills and to introduce the basics of SPED to related individuals. The Teacher Enhancement Program (TEP) aims to establish sustainable programs for schildren who are deaf in public schools in the country through training public school teachers. The program has increased its reach from NCR to the other regions of the country. The first region to benefit from the program is Region VIII-Eastern Visayas. The first regional training is made possible by a grant awarded by the Assisi Development Foundation. Today, LINK Center has been providing diverse and substantial training programs for public school teachers coming from 15 regions of the country.

With the support of donor organizations, subsidies are provided to public school teachers. Some seminars are conducted under a scholarship scheme in cooperation with the Department of Education.

Sign Language for teachers

Complementing the pedagogical training for teachers is the skills development and enhancement in sign language. The program has paved way for the opening of programs for the hearing impaired in several schools in the National Capital Region. It has also increased the number of teachers who can handle deaf students. LINK Center provides scholarship to teachers willing to handle deaf students or to teachers who wish to be more skilled in the field and become competent interpreters for the deaf.

Regional and National Teacher Enhancement in Special Education

Teachers from all over the country gathered together to enhance their skills in Special Education.

I was one of the recipients of this program last 2012 and 2014. It has been very helpful to me and my co-teachers to whom I shared my knowledge and skills through our yearly SpEd training for our regular teachers handling students with hearing impairment. Thank you very much, Ma’am Carolyn and Marical Ui and to the whole LINK team 🙂

Since I started studying about social entrepreneurship and social impact here in Australia, I have come to appreciate more the work that you have done and are still doing until now, as well as the impact you are creating for your customers. Kudos for a job well-done! More power and blessings!
